Waves in the water they come and go, sometimes swiftly and sometimes slow. It takes time for sailors to be able to understand how currents flow, allowing them to chart the best way for their ships to go.
Undertows, just like gravity can take you by surprise, depending on how powerful both can bring fear to your eyes. Do you give in and let it sweep you away, or do you swim against it knowing today is not the day?
When the moon and stars are hidden from a sailor's eyes and clouds hide the charts nature provides, they question why. On and off the charted trip a ship will go, confused about its direction without beams from the moon and star's shimmering glow.
But then....here comes the sun with its sparkling diamonds delighting weary eyes, allowing the sailor to course correct after surviving the long dark night. Onward does the little ship go, where it will end up...well only God knows.
If the water I choose to sail on is seasoned with the right amount of salt, I can float forever and never touch the sand. If it is too fresh and empty, I will grow weary and be forced to return to dry land.
I long for the seasoned waters keeping me afloat in life’s waves, you never know how big they’ll be, bringing good and bad surprises depending on the day. Ordinary waves, while lovely quickly come and go, extraordinary waves, while dangerous, last longer and are a pleasure to experience as they build themselves up slow.
Give me the dangerous.....
The water is so fresh and blue, with the wind taking me closer to the mountains and walking with you. Laughter and sunshine are all about, friends on the lake see me and shout.
How can such a beautiful place be real, with diamonds in the water cut by my ship's keel. The mountains in view call us to come, so we can walk in their quiet forests away from everyone.
I hear kids excitement expressed with loud squeals, but I am walking with you, so I got the better deal. Sunlight and shadows created by the trees, decorate our pathway as we walk through early fall leaves.
Age has slowed down both of our paces, but this hasn't changed the peace on our faces. Lines reflect the times in our lives, some created by laughter and others by words that cut like a knife.
Red and yellow leaves are the colors of the day, never failing to catch my eyes as they move my way. The beauty around protects us from view, enjoying quiet times when it’s just me and you.
We stop to rest beneath the trees, and from the lake comes a cool breeze. I wonder again how this love came to be, because one in a million odds, when won, are hard to believe.
Then, I felt real love on my skin. The caress of their hand, lingered softly like the wind. Passion's kiss was felt again, knowing I will walk beside him until the end.
